[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Someone who doesn’t wear a lot of nail polish, I always wanna find something that’s more neutral, but still has a little bit of color in it. I really like this Mademoiselle color by Essie! Pink usually scares me a little bit, but it’s the perfect nude with just a hint of pink. It dried so quickly and two coats was the perfect amount. So far it’s staying on perfectly.

Not my favorite formula

I tried it a few times and it applied streaky which is unlike the Essie formula I know. It took multiple coats to get the opacity I wanted. I think this might work better as a nail art shade. It also seemed to chip pretty quickly.

Your bottle definitely does not sound like it was up to standard. All of our colors, including the Blanc, should flow one easily and look perfect by the second coat. We get why you went with so many coats, but applying more than 2 coats of color increases the chance of any nail enamel chipping. The layers never dry right. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I know white nail polishes are usually thicker because of the pigment, and this one was no exception. The formula felt very thick and streaky, making it hard apply thin, even coats. The brush also left visible lines, and thicker coats took long time to dry. Unfortunately, white polishes are usually more trouble than they're worth for me.

This pure white color should still flow easily onto the nail and by the second coat, the color should be perfect. It sounds like your bottle was not the typical consistency for this color, if the polish is too thick, streaks and long dry time are the result.

Color changed - no longer the cult favorite

Mademoiselle used to be my “go to” color. It was the perfect nude (similar to Essie’s long discontinued Adore-a-ball), not too pink, not too beige, and I wore it all the time. Then the color changed. It’s now way too pink, and I hate it. I’m so disappointed that despite feedback from many loyal users, Essie has not seen fit to change it back to the perfect color it was. If you’re going to introduce a new color, don’t destroy a customer favorite - just call it something else. And please bring back the old color, even if you are using a new formulation. Making the argument that a color change is the result of a new formulation rather than owning up to the fact that you made a deliberate change to the color is insulting.

I used Vanity Fairest for years, it was the perfect sheer nude pink with a bit of sparkle, great for year-round and a wonderful neutral without being boring. HOWEVER, Essie changed the formula and while it's still sheer, the sparkle is gone and its overall color is just another boring pink. Shame on you Essie.

That thick, clumpy texture you described—especially when it makes a smooth finish impossible—is certainly not the high-quality experience you should have with any Essie color (looks great on your nail BTW!) The nail colors should all flow on easily and by the second coat the color should be perfect!

I, too, am disappointed with the color change. I'm also disappointed with the generic answers I see from Essie. For the sake of greed and profit, Essie has changed a classic staple product. It used to be a subtle natural pink, now it's giving cheap bubble gum pink. Since I don't want to be let down again, I am finished trying any more colors.

I wash my hands constantly and work in a field where I use my hands often and the polish stays strong for at least 1 full week. Has a beautiful shine to it and not many streaks. I have a huge Essie collection, so I'm always happy to add to it! I find this white doesn’t turn colors after a while but does have its normal wear and tear like polish does . But it doesn’t not turn that yellow color or like the gloss part that chips away. If you get white a lot you if you know then.
