I bought this awhile ago, and I love it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a matte finish on their nails.
However, I have been searching for the last 2 months for more and every store I go to does not have any, which makes me sad.

White flecks?

Let me get one thing straight -- I love this top coat. It dries fast, is sturdy, and makes my nails look great... Until you notice the white flecks all over my nails. I thought I was just crazy or got an old bottle until I saw other reviews complaining of the same thing. I'm soooo disappointed. It seems like whatever powder Essie uses to matte-ify the polish in the formula is not mixed in well enough. :(

A friend recommended this to me & I’m so glad I bought it! I use the gel-setter top coat first, then this over top on the fingernails I want to be matte & it looks gorgeous. I do get a few “white dots” but not so many that it’s a problem & once your nails are dry, you can scratch them off. I’ll never stop using this as long as essie sells it.

I wasn't sure if I would like the look of matte nails on me, but I decided to try this one out. It is a great product, and it quickly dries with a fully matte look. It does chip a bit quicker than with a regular top coat, but if you don't mind doing your nails a little bit more often you should like the product.

this polish dries quickly and looks great... until you see all of the tiny white dots ruining your manicure. apparently it's a problem (see other reviews), so I don't know why this product is being sold as is. I love essie and am extremely disappointed.

I've used this product for a long time but every time I get halfway down the bottle, it just stops working! My thumb is now half matte, half glossy and the rest of my nails are glossy and completely dry! Probably won't be buying this top coat again - when it works its super good, but beware once you're halfway through it, you'll have to buy another one.

Hi there Nicole! We can imagine how frustrating that would be…Even clear top coats like the matte about you do best when shaken before each use. This assures all the solvents are well blended each time. Also, clean the neck of your polish and care bottles after every use using nail polish remover and a lint free pad. Product left on the neck of the bottle will dry, causing the cap to seal less and less tightly over time. Solvents exposed to the air will evaporate, causing the product to thicken. This is why a new bottle of a color will perform differently than an older bottle.

It can't get any matter than this. If extreme mat is what you are looking for, look no further. Way more matting than what I wanted or expected, but that's another story.

I bought this for a wedding and painted my nails the night before, I took extra care when painting them to make sure they were perfect. They were chipping by the next morning! I had to repaint my nails before the wedding they chipped so bad. I've tried it a few more times on different polish, but still saw the same results..

I got this today and it looks lovely on! It gives a smooth finish and can make a rough manicure look professional. Super soft and gorgeous finish. I am relatively new to doing my own nails and this helps a lot.

I have used all different type of matte top coats and I finally found my match. It looks flawless and is wonderful I would not use a different top coat. It looks amazing with nudes and light pastel colors and even deep like maroons.

If I could give no stars, I would. I put this on at 1 pm this afternoon and it’s now 5:42 pm. I can stick stick the edge of my fingernail into it and it is still denting. I used quick dry drops. And it’s already chipped on 4 nails. I didn’t even think something could chip if it wasn’t fully dry but here we are. This is garbage.

Two coats as a base coat for Ballet Slippers and the polish will go on without streaks and 2 coats of Ballet Slippers will look mostly opaque over the matte coats. Perfect. Saw this on a nail blog and she was absolutely right.

I just bought this polish earlier today and I was super excited try it out on a nude nail polish. I put it on and the matte look looks great. Unfortunately on half of my nails there are little white specks and it ruins the look. I am disappointed that a product that I just bought has this kind of defect.

So I looked at a couple of videos of people using this product. I thought I would give it a try. The matte effect is to die for; but it was back to shiny in about two day. Just make the effects last longer and I'll give you 6 stars.

Hi Scarlet! Matte looks on nails are great fun, but as we wash hands and apply moisturizers, there is a build up on the nail bed that obscures the mattifying particles. Swabbing the nail bed with alcohol will clean them off and return the matte look.

I loved this at first, but used it after a month or so and it is now leaving white flecks on my nails. Mostly full bottle is now garbage as I don't want to keep ruining my nails. Good if you plan to use a lot, quickly after you buy it

Ohmygoodness! I just bought this yesterday and it feels like I've doubled my nail color wardrobe! Love the way it looks. I put it over my regular manicure, and got compliments as if I'd completely changed the color. It's a total game-changer. It may be my new favorite "color."

Typically use a different brand but decided to give Essie a shot since it's sold at the Walmart close to my house. I assumed that being one of the more expensive drug store brands, it would be good, but I have consistently gotten these white flecks on every single nail I paint! I have been a nail tech for over 5 years now and this is the worst matte top coat I've used.

I bought this to see if it could be a replacement for my Sally Hansen Matte top coat. I love the matte finish but Sally Hansen was thick to apply and always left bubbles and sometimes white lines.
This top coat is wonderful. Its not thick at all, its the same as regular polish and goes on smoothly. When it dried I had zero air bubbles. So far no white lines either, but SH didnt do that until my second bottle. So far I am in love with Essie Matte About You!

Intrigued by a polish that could turn shiny nail polish to sleek matte, I purchased matte about you. The results are incredible! I compared one hand done with the other shiny from polish and will forever be using this product.

The first day I used it I was in love with it, but then after a day it started to go back to looking shiny. I kept using the product, but then I started noticing white dots after they would dried up. I love how it really mattes your nails but It has its downs with not lasting long and the white dots.

I went and got my nails done the other day and asked for a matte finish. The guy gave me glossy instead, i was so upset. I went searching online to figure out what i could do and found this product. I painted over my finished nails with this and like magic my nails where matte, so pleased with this product.

Its the best thing ever. I love matte polish. I never could find colors I absolutely love in matte and if I did it dried out easily. This allows me to make my favorite colors matte without the major chipping. I am thoroughly happy about this product.

This polish makes my collection of polishes twice as big. Always fun to try "Matte about you" on top of a new polish. Today, I tried it together with the glittery "A cut above", and it made the glitter more baby-pink, great!
